What is Integrative Reflexology ?

Integrative Reflexology at Body & Sole Wellness Center

Reflexology is based on the theory that the entire body, including organs, glands and body parts have reflex points located on the feet and hands.

Integrative Reflexology

is a holistic energy-based modality working through the energies of the nervous, electrical, chemical and magnetic systems of the body. It utilizes manual techniques to apply pressure to the reflex body maps found on the feet and hands

Through Integrative Reflexology, blockages of energy can be released around corresponding body systems and parts, which can bring them back into balance and aid in deep relaxation to the entire body and mind.

Your session begins with an aromatherapy foot soak and invigorating exfoliation which is customized to your own unique physical and emotional needs. We use only the highest quality of pure essential oils for all of our aromatherapy treatments. After the soak and exfoliation, the session continues as we move on to one of our relaxing treatment rooms where you can feel the stress begin to melt away as we begin applying the Integrative Reflexology treatment to your feet and hands. Often, shea butter cream and essential oils are used during the session because the oils are easily absorbed through the soles of the feet, traveling through the body within 20 minutes. Sometimes, warm, smooth stones are used to warm the feet or are used to help stimulate the reflex points which are maps of the body on the feet and hands. This is done by applying pressure to specific points which elicit a relaxation response.

The practice of reflexology is thought to date back as far as 5000 B.C. Egyptian hieroglyphic references to foot reflexology have been discovered, as well as written records from Asia. Native Americans knew about the importance of the relationship between the feet and the body and would apply various herbs and clays to the soles of the feet to treat diseases, pain and other illnesses.

Everyone is different in how their body responds to reflexology. Some people will see results immediately, others will need several sessions to start noticing the results they desire. Chronic conditions sometimes take a little longer to respond compared to more acute conditions due to the fact that symptoms and their energies are more ingrained in the body.

Reflexology helps with pain relief and certain forms of stress and anxiety because stimulating reflex points releases endorphins, the body's own form of a morphine like substance.

Other results that have been reported are:

  • Most people are relieved of constipation in 3-24 hours

  • Relief of menstrual cramping, severity of hot flashes

  • Improved quality of sleep

  • Relief from migraine

  • Strengthening of immune system and quicker recovery from viruses, surgery and injuries

Sessions are $45.00 for 1 hour or $30.00 for 30 minutes
